The levels of greenhouse gases being emitted into the atmosphere are at record highs, driven by increased consumption, transportation and power generation. These current levels are unsustainable and are contributors to extreme weather conditions, damage to our eco-systems and are of substantial detriment to our lifestyle right here in London.
There are three main harmful emissions produced by standard vehicles, these are:
- Carbon Dioxide (CO2) - a greenhouse gas and a major contributor to global warming. The government have set targets for a reduction in Carbon Dioxide emissions of 20% by 2010
- Nitrogen Oxide (NOX) - a greenhouse gas and the primary cause of smog. Other serious side-effects include contribution to asthma suffering and acid rain
- Particulates (PM10) - dust and soot from exhaust, inhalation causes increased respiratory problems and heart disease
Our fleet of Toyota Prius cars emit 60% less Carbon Dioxide than other taxi vehicles in operation. In addition to this, they also produce 98% less Nitrogen Oxide than the average Hackney Cab and 100% less PM10 emissions.
